We opened our doors in Canberra in 2013 and we’ve been an integral part of the hairdressing community ever since. Our first salon lived in Kingston for many years and in 2023, we moved to a fabulous new spot in Campbell to upgrade our experience for our clients.
Our creative genius and owner, Jesinda, opened the salon with the goal of making each client who walks through the door feel transformed and confident.
We have a kind, experienced team and we’re not pretentious.

Hello!
Jesinda here, hairdresser and proud owner of Scissor & Roc.
I wanted to be a salon owner since I was a little girl. Splashing in the bath as a baby, my mum would create hair master pieces from bubble bath and ask me “How would you like your hair today, Miss Jesinda?” and I remember wishing I was grown up enough to do it myself. I even made fake beauty salons in shoe boxes, pretending to be head stylist!
I love everything about being a hairdresser. The colouring, cutting, styling, barbering – I love it all. But, my true passion is people and I get my energy from being around them, so showing up to work is easy.
Hairdressing has been the most wonderful choice of career for me, with the mix of doing hair and making people feel confident while building lasting relationships with my clients. It means everything to me. When I hire team members, I always look for kindness first. I believe you can teach people how to cut hair, but you can’t teach them how to be kind and compassionate. So, I’ve built a lovely, caring and talented team who I love working with every day.
No matter how large the business gets, I have no intention of stepping back from being on the salon floor, as it’s the place I feel most at home. Being surrounded by my team and doing what I love every day is where I belong – my play pretend shoe box salon became an exceptional reality.
